ABOUT KATIE FLORIO
Katie Florio is a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor's degree in Sports Communication and a minor in Brand Communications. She is the current Rinkside Reporter and Digital Media Manager for the Colorado Eagles, the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. In Katie's current role she strategically markets and brands the Eagles by serving as the team's host/reporter for on-air content including live game coverage and feature packages. Katie also manages and oversees all digital content creation and social media.
Katie previously worked for the Rockford IceHogs as the team's reporter while also managing the digital media, communications and community relations department. Prior to Rockford, Katie was the Communications Coordinator and Sideline Reporter for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. In that role Katie led the brainstorming, creating and editing of video and photo content on all social media platforms. She also assisted in all Blue Wahoos media and public relations efforts including player availability, daily press releases, game notes, roster moves and lineup sheets. Additionally, Katie contributed to Blue Wahoos in-game broadcasts by reporting from field level, in the broadcast booth and also served as the team's social media host.
Graduating from Clemson early, Katie spent her last semester of college as a Production Assistant/Broadcast Intern with the Minnesota Twins. She was responsible for conducting and editing interview sound, writing and developing segments for the Minnesota Twins Radio Network and cutting and editing game highlights.
At the same time Katie was working towards her degree at Clemson, she also worked as a sportswriter for The Clemson Insider, a website that covers Clemson Athletics and had the opportunity to cover national events including the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game, the 2018 ESPN College Football Awards Show, the 2017 and 2018 College Football Playoff semifinal games, the 2017 and 2018 ACC Football Kickoff, the 2018 ACC Baseball Championship and the Carolina Panthers’ 2018 Training Camp.
Katie also interned with local news stations WSPA 7 News and WYFF News 4, ESPNU Campus Connection and spent a summer working in the Cape Cod Baseball League where she did sideline reporting for FOX College Sports and also worked as the field reporter for the Falmouth Commodores.
